CAREERS IN THE PPD PROGRAMME

CAREERS IN THE PPD PROGRAMME

At UTC Heathrow, students in all year groups have a rigorous Personal, Professional Development (PPD) Programme. The programme is intended to support students in becoming a well-rounded individual who is prepared for the world of work and compliments their academic and vocational studies. This programme is created by the Lead for Personal Professional Development, alongside our Student Council. The programme is delivered in year groups and by our tutors.

In KS4, Year 10 and 11 students have one, sixty-minute session on a Monday afternoon from 14:30pm – 15:30pm. The programme follows the guidance from the PSHE Association, and also includes additional elements of Careers Education.

In KS5, Year 12 and 13 have one, sixty-minute session on a Thursday. The KS5 programme is designed specifically around Careers to prepare our students for the world of work. In Year 12, the students follow a programme, developing employability skills and getting accredited for their work across the academic year. In Year 13, the focus is around supporting students with their intended destinations, including apprenticeship and UCAS applications.

All elements of Careers within the PPD programme have been designed considering the CDI Framework and the PSHE Association Programme of Study. NB: The attached schemes of work demonstrate the careers elements of the PPD programme; these are not exhaustive and are subject to change throughout the academic year.
