Young achievers honoured with awards

Two Year 11 students were honoured with awards at a ceremony attended by 100 young people from schools and colleges around Hillingdon.

Max Kotlarz and Joshua Ilesanmi-Azaka both received a Jack Petchey Achievement Award at a ceremony held at the Beck Theatre in Hayes on Wednesday May 26. The award recognises young people for contributions to their school or college.

Max and Joshua were presented with their awards by Councillor Becky Haggar- Kaikitis, Mayor of Hillingdon. They also received a £250 grant to spend on the school. Louise Kelsh, yYear 11 form tutor, said: “It was a really lovely evening to celebrate the achievements of our students, the first time the Awards have taken place in over two years. We are very proud of all of our Year 11 students, and Max & Joshua exemplify how well they have all done through the toughest of years.”

Max Kotlarz – Max received many nominations from both students and staff. For excelling academically, for his support and help around the school, for his sportsmanship and his overall brilliant attitude to learning. Max is respected greatly by his peers, always on hand to offer help and advice, and is a brilliant friend to all.

Joshua Ilesanmi-Azaka –  Joshua was nominated by both students and staff for his overall brilliance in all areas. He represented the school at the national math challenge, he is excelling in his subjects, has helped at the school events, he has supported his peers and demonstrated a kindness to everyone.

Joshua said: “I am proud of my achievements, as is my mum. I enjoyed the evening and am thankful that I’m at such a great school.”
