

UTC Heathrow students look to top destinations following exam success
UTC Heathrow Year 13 students are ready to move on to amazing destinations as they celebrated a milestone today – picking up their A Level and Level 3 technical qualification results.
This year’s leavers from the STEM-specialist school are off to universities including Brunel University, Portsmouth University, Nottingham University, City University, Sheffield University and Loughborough University, and some incredible apprenticeships at companies including BA Airways, Vertiv and National Grid
UTC Heathrow specialises in engineering and IT, and this year’s exam outcomes reflect the hard work, technical talent and ambition of its students.
A Level
- 8% of grades were A–A*
- 25% of grades were A–B*
- 75% of grades were A–C*
- The average A Level grade was C-
Technical subjects
- 29% of students achieved DDD or DDD* in the BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Engineering
- 33% achieved DD or DD in the BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Engineering
- 25% of grades in the BTEC Level 3 Extended Certificate in Engineering were D or D*
- Across all BTEC Level 3 Engineering and IT qualifications, 88% of grades were at least a Merit, with 13% of students earning D in every subject*
Next steps: Apprenticeships and university
Many students have successfully secured highly sought-after apprenticeships and degree apprenticeships with leading national employers, including:
- Virtiv
- BA Airways
- National Grid
Other students are celebrating offers from respected universities, including:
Brunel University, Portsmouth University, Nottingham University, City University, Sheffield University and Loughborough University

- Chloe Mustoe – D*D*D Level 3 Engineering, going on to a degree apprenticeship at Vertiv
- · Arjan Gill – D*D*D Level 3 Engineering going on to an apprenticeship for British Airways
- · Muhammad-Umar Syed – D*D Level 3 Engineering and B Maths A Level, is going on to an apprenticeship for National Grid
- · Ibrahim Tabibi – D*DD Level 3 Information Technology is going onto Brunel University to study Computer Science
