We are delighted to announce that UTC Heathrow are supporting Anti-bullying Week 2022 which is taking place from Monday 14th to Friday 18th November this year and it has the theme ‘Reach Out’. This is an opportunity to shine a spotlight on bullying and consider the steps we can take together to stop it. Anti-Bullying Week is coordinated by the Anti-Bullying Alliance (ABA) in England and Wales, a unique coalition of organisations and individuals, working together to achieve a vision: to stop bullying and create safer environments in which children and young people can live, grow, play and learn.
What can you do to help?
As a parent or carer, you have a vital role to play in helping your child recognise bullying and what you can do together to stop it. As such, click here to view the Anti-Bullying Alliance’s Toolkit for Parents and Carers which has some useful information and tips, including how to identify when your child may need support, what to do if you fear your child may be bullying others, conversation starters and lots more. I really encourage all parents and carers to have a read through this fantastic resource.
We strongly acknowledge the importance of home-school collaboration, working together to ensure all our students feel safe and supported in our school community. We want all students to feel confident to ‘Reach Out’ when needed and will always endeavour to manage any bullying behaviours swiftly and effectively, as per our behaviour policy. UTC Heathrow has a Zero-Tolerance approach to bullying, intimidation and harassment and this message is revisited often through our Personal Development curriculum, assemblies and our Pastoral Support.
Should you have any concerns regarding your young person or another, please do not hesitate to inform us. You can do this by contacting their Tutor, Pastoral Support Leader or you can email either Studentsupport@heathrow-utc.org or our Designated Safeguarding Officer, Gemma Gardiner at Gemma.Gardiner@heathrow-utc.org
Throughout the week, we will come together to highlight, discuss and educate all on the topics surrounding bullying with the goal of putting a stop to it.
