University Technical College

WHAT IS A UTC?

UTC stands for University Technical College, an innovative approach to learning for 14-19-year-olds that offers specialist programmes alongside traditional subjects, such as English, Maths and Science.

UTCs are government-funded schools that charge no fees and are smaller than traditional schools. They provide a unique and relevant approach to education which addresses the changing needs of students and employers in the 21st century.

Established by companies and universities in areas of high demand for talent, UTCs provide sought-after technical qualifications and benefit from industry standard equipment and specialist staff to provide students with the skills valued by employers, becoming the inventors, engineers, scientists and technicians of tomorrow.

By working with a university and industry employers, students benefit from access to real-life employer projects and mentoring from specialists in industry.
