Welcome to the end of term newsletter from UTC Heathrow. As we approach the end of the Autumn Term, we reflect on what has been another fantastic term for us, and look forward to what’s in store after the Christmas break.

We have officially joined the Activate Learning Education Trust (ALET)
That is because as of 1 September 2018, we officially joined the Activate Learning Education Trust (ALET) and become UTC Heathrow.
The ALET is a Multi-Academy Trust (MAT) established by Activate Learning. It delivers excellence in education and transforms lives through learning by providing exciting and innovative education for young people.
UTC Heathrow opened its doors to prospective students at the first Open Event of the academic year
The event, which ran from 5.30 to 7.30pm, saw visitors taking a tour through the facilities and departments, led by a UTC Heathrow student or staff member, offering up first-hand experience of their time at the school, along with the chance to ask any questions.
Fujitsu, Intel, Ruckus Networks and Kyocera launch Education Innovation Hub at UTC Heathrow
The hub follows the announcement at the 2016 Bett education show of the expansion of the Ambassador Programme, and UTC Heathrow as the latest educational institution to open its Innovation Hub in the second phase.
UTC Heathrow joins new Cyber Security Group to prepare students for the jobs of tomorrow
On Wednesday 26 September, the Cyber Security Group was launched. UTC Heathrow, along with a group of other UTCs up and down the country have joined to equip their students with the right cyber security skills needed for when they start employment, or move on to higher education.
Working with cyber UTCs across the country, along with the help of leading edge security and private sector organisations, the group looks to bridge the security resource and skills gap that businesses face, to help better protect today’s society from cyber threats. The group aims to equip a minimum of 500 students a year with the right cyber skills to prepare them for the jobs of tomorrow.
UTC Pipeline Programme is training students for careers with industry leaders
On Thursday 1 November, UTC Heathrow launched its UTC Pipeline Programme for KS5 students, teaming up with leading industry experts: TfL (Transport for London), Peter Brett Associates, John Guest, Atkins and Heathrow Airport Limited.
UTC Heathrow is part of the Activate Learning Education Trust (ALET), a leading education group with strong links to business. UTCs provide a technical education as well as core curriculum subjects like maths and English, and differ from secondary schools by working directly with employers to meet evolving industry demands.
Year 10 student represents UTC Heathrow at the Speak Out Challenge regional finals
After being crowned the UTC Speak Out Champion back in October, Ossian, along with a group of students and staff from UTC Heathrow, took a trip to the Hillingdon regional finals to give their support.
Open Event – Wednesday 13 February 2019
We will be holding an Open Event for prospective students and their families on Wednesday 13 February 2019, from 5.30-7.30pm.
Come to this event for the chance to tour our state-of-the-art facilities, talk to staff and students and meet some of our industry partners.
